Sacred Tobacco
Nicotiana rustica
[Approximately 100 seeds per packet]

A wild tobacco, also known as Sacred Tobacco, Aztec Tobacco, or simply Rustica Tobacco, it originated in Mexico but was widely cultivated throughout North America by native peoples for ceremonial purposes. According to J. B. Killebrew, "Turkish, Hungarian, and Latakia tobacco is probably of this species." It has also been widely grown throughout Russia, due to its ability to grow in colder climates.

The plants reach about three feet in height, are vigorous and fairly hardy. The abundant yellow blossoms bloom all day and make it an interesting garden annual. Cultivated worldwide for smoking and nicotine production. Potency is high, containing nicotine levels as high as 9%. The plant has been said to have been used as an arrow poison in Mexico. Each packet contains 100 seeds. 1/4g is about 1,000 seeds, and 1g is around 4-5,000.

Tobacco plants are very interesting, ornamental, and have many uses apart from consumption. Tobacco seeds are not classified as tobacco products. We promote the cultivation of tobacco plants, but we do not promote the use of tobacco products.
Tobacco seeds are tiny and look like dust, but each one has the potential to quickly grow into a huge tobacco plant. They need light to germinate. Sprinkle the seeds onto the surface of a moist and sterile seed starting mix. Do not cover the seeds. They also must never be allowed to dry out, so they are frequently (but gently) watered using a mist from a spray bottle. While waiting for germination, it can help to cover them with some kind of plastic sheeting to help hold moisture.

Once tiny seedlings emerge, you can pick them out one by one and move them into individual cells. Very lightly fertilize and never allow the potting soil to dry out. Within 6 weeks it'll be ready to plant in the garden. Wait until all risk of frost is over before planting outdoors.

These seeds germinated fairly well and are growing in my yard right now!

★★★★★ Awesome plant

Planted it as a companion plant. Bugs didn't touch it. Came back the next two years on it's own. Tough plant easy to grow.

★★★★★ Amazing plant!
By Joshua Matney on March 16, 2017

Talk about high nicotine content. These plants will knock your socks off. Grew well and didn't attract the horn-worms as bad or really at all. I make chewing tobacco from this because it is almost too strong to smoke. Even stronger as chew but what a buzz, might not wanna drive a car at the same time. I highly recommend this plant.
