Tendercrop Bean

Tendercrop

54 days — The pods are five to six inches long, round in cross section and medium-green in color. It is good for fresh, canning or frozen use. 'Tendercrop' is also reportedly resistant to Bean Common Mosaic Virus (BCMV) and Pod Mottle Virus (PMV).[2]

Although 'Tendercop' began as one of the first snap beans adapted for mechanical harvesting, its productivity and other attributes made it very popular among home gardeners. And like many of the older, original bush-type varieties, under the right circumstances, the plants will send out short runners (usually between ten to twenty-four inches) becoming somewhat straggly appearing when fully grown.

Bred by Bill Zaumeyer[1] and released by the United States Department of Agriculture at Beltsville, Maryland as a cross between 'Topcrop' and 'Tenderpod' and released in 1958.[2] Each ounce is approximately 85 seeds.
